Mission Trip to India 2009

Information

On April 16th 2009 a team of six head off for two weeks of work supporting KLBC Partners in India. We will be spending the first week with Pastors Rajakumar and Gladson and the second with Pastor Samuels. Details are yet to be finalised but our overall aim is humbly to serve and encourage these wonderful men of God, their families and their teams in whatever way we can. We have been asked especially to sponsor and run conferences to bring teaching to groups of local Pastors and Evangelists. (Pastor Samuels alone is talking in terms of a three day residential conference for up to 200 Pastors.)

We begin our time with two full days of ministry in Bangalore, and then Pastor Raj intends to take us out 8 hours by road for three days in the remote village area near Tiruvannamalai in Tamil Nadu where he has evangelised and planted four Churches. It is a very poor Hindu /Animist dominated area which has known much opposition to the Christian Gospel. Here Pastor Raj is planning a conference for local Pastors.

We then travel back to Bangalore by road and then to Coonor via an overnight train for the time with Pastor Sam. We are due to fly back on 30th April.

Please pray that:

We will be able to bless and encourage these men and women of God in their work whilst catching some of the passion they have for evangelism and Church planting.

We will be guided with planning teaching/preaching material so that it will be appropriate and will cross the cultural/racial divide and be effective for use with those we minister to.

We will be given special sensitivity to pick up quickly the real needs of those we meet and that we will be enabled to minister to those needs without causing offence.

All the team and all those attending the sessions will know God’s protection in every circumstance.

We will be able to raise the funds necessary to sponsor these conferences. ( The local Pastors and Evangelists are extremely poor, often living with their families in one or two roomed huts with only outdoor cooking facilities. Often they hardly know where their next food is coming from. Many will walk tens of miles to attend the conferences and will sleep together on Church floors. They will need food and Pastor Sam has estimated a minimum cost of £10 per Pastor for the whole three days. We are therefore looking for over £2000 for the Coonor conference alone.)

We will update this page with more detail when we have it.
