Missions
The Church members, and the church support a number of mission organisation in the
work they do. Here are some brief details about each:
Baptist Home Mission - website
Our Church together with most of the other Baptist churches in Norfolk, support
'Home Mission', by gifts from our collections. In 2001, the targets for increased
support were requested and an overall increase of 6.8% has been achieved. It is
always good to remember that Union Chapel was upheld for many years through the
funding of 'Home Mission'. Without those gifts, our Church may well have not survived
and grown to what we enjoy today.
The Bible Society - website
Several in KLBC support the Bible society. Especially with distribution of scripture
to new language groups. Similarly some have links to Wycliffe Bible Translators
doing a parallel work.
CARE - website
CARE is a well-established mainstream Christian charity with 100,000 supporters
which provide resources and helps to bring Christian insight and experience to matters
of public policy and practical caring initiatives. CARE is represented in the UK
Parliaments and Assemblies, at the EU in Brussels and the UN in Geneva and New York
Open Doors - website
This is the Brother Andrew based work supporting the persecuted church across
the world. Several in the KLBC are strongly involved in this, giving, praying and
writing letters both to prisoners and to authorities.
Tearfund - website
A number of our church family give directly to Tear Fund Projects, and are closely
involved in particular ministries. Several are involved in the "Work a Miracle"
project targeting AIDS in Africa.
