The KLBC preaching course is a seven week course designed to give those with any
amount of preaching experience the tools needed to become a semi-regular preacher
of the word of God. There are two main aspects of the course Teaching and
Mentoring. The preaching course will be running next in September/October

Teaching
The teaching part of the course comprises of 6 hour and half sessions which all
comprise of up-front teaching, group work and a weekly assignment. The topics
covered by these six weeks are as follows:
- The Heart of a Preacher - Dealing with heart preparation and listening to God
- The Word of a Preacher I - Dealing with the different ways to use the word of God
in Preaching
- The Word of a Preacher II - Dealing with specific helpful resources to aid in your
study
- The Preparation of a Preacher - Dealing with structuring and topic selection issues
- The Voice of a Preacher - Dealing with communication skills and how best to get
a message across
- The Style of a Preacher - Dealing with visual aids, powerpoint presentations and
other communication aids
Mentoring
Each person on the course is assigned a mentor that is available for extended conversations
about any of the topics raised in the teaching sessions. Their mentor also
provides feedback on the short ten-minute message they prepare for the final (seventh)
session - The Practice of a Preacher. The mentor and trainee will also meet
a number of times after the trainee has finished the course to help provide additional
support and feedback on their preaching.
